3D-Printed Offroad Beetle – Classic Looks, Rugged Ambitions
Who says a Beetle belongs only on the road? This project proves otherwise. This custom 3D-printed Volkswagen Beetle is being built with one clear goal: to hit the trails in style. And you can see that in every detail. From the reinforced roll cage to the custom rear assembly – this model is being prepped for adventure.
Details
- Model by: 3DSets
Based on a 3DSets Design
The 3D files for this model were created by 3DSets, known for their modular, functional RC vehicles. Their designs offer a strong base for performance builds and endless upgrade potential. This offroad Beetle takes full advantage of that.
Interior That’s Fully Thought Out
- Diamond-stitched seats: Printed in a clean white and beige combo with a realistic quilted pattern – they look good enough to sit in.
- Full roll cage: Finished in white, firmly secured with visible bolts, wrapping around the cabin for serious structural support.
- Simple dash & steering wheel: Basic but functional – totally fitting the rally-inspired vibe of this build.
A Finish That Stands Out
The body is printed using Polymaker filament with a coarse glitter texture. The deep metallic green sparkles under the light and gives the surface a rugged, custom-paint feel. It’s bold, tough, and totally unique.
Built for the Wild
This Beetle is more than a static showpiece – it’s being developed to actually drive offroad. The rear section is already prepared for independent suspension and drivetrain. That reinforced rear bumper with thick bars isn’t just for looks – it’s ready to absorb impacts once the model hits the dirt.
Functional Roof Rack Included
The roof features a sturdy printed luggage rack, complete with a perforated surface and realistic mounting brackets. Perfect for scale accessories like a spare tire, jerrycans, or even a rooftop tent – who knows what’ll be added next?
More Details Coming Soon
The build is far from done – there’s plenty more to come:
- Oversized offroad tires
- Working LED lights
- Functional accessories like fire extinguishers, tools, and jerrycans
- Small interior details like gauges, switches, and stickers
- And maybe even some ‘battle damage’ after the first test drive…
A Bit of Rust for Character
To make the Beetle look even more realistic, I’ll soon be experimenting with adding rust effects to give the car a more aged, weathered look. After all, what’s an offroad Beetle without a bit of character from years on the trail?
This project is a perfect example of what’s possible with 3D printing: fully custom, highly detailed, and made to be used. Want a build like this of your own? Or ready to start your own project? Get in touch – anything is possible!
